Apple pressing 2014

It's a lovely Sunday afternoon and OH and I are ready to start appling in earnest. I've cleaned the shredder that week, the bags of apples have had the bad ones sorted out and discarded, the big buckets have been sterilised, and we're good to go.

Several CD changes later (backyard soundtrack on a sunny autumn Sunday afternoon: tango with Astor Piazzolla, jazz with John Lee Hooker and Django Reinhardt) we've pressed 6 gallons (27 litres) and still have 2 more IKEA bags to go.

Our trusty cider press, built by OH, now in its 4th year.

Has now had cider  yeast added and is currently bubbling away in my Woman Cave.

Tastes lovely!
