OH's
mate has taken over a plot further down
the path. He works at a pub and brings huge amounts of
compostable veg and fruit peelings in his bike trailer to start up his compost heap. He's on his own clearing the
plot but still manages to grow huge amounts of parsley, some seedlings of
which he kindly gives to us for free.
OH
also had a stroke of luck at the garden centre. His eyes alighted on a bar
of beetroot seedlings, 12 for £1.68 or something. It turns out that
there were in fact 72 seedlings, not just 12. That was a pretty
spectacular deal. Most of them survive the planting out and make
several rows.
