The back of the garden is looking like a tip so while OH was braiding sackfuls of now-dried onions, I sawed up the various bits of wood that had accumulated down the back of the garden or that P next door had thrown over the fence from his numerous refurb jobs, old floorboards, wood offcuts and the like. Took hours but was nicely tiring and satisfying. What was a bit sobering though was the realisation that all I sawed would probably be burnt up in less than a winter's day.
"Yes," OH said, through a cloud of onion fumes, "you get warm twice, once from chopping it, and then from burning it."
