Random baking

I had some Russian tvorog to use up and baked a zapekanka last night, a very simple and tasty Russian cheesecake that does without the buttered pastry base and uses breadcrumbs instead, and of these we have plenty. I got to use my new hand-held lemon zester -- it worked well -- and the whole thing tasted lovely. Unfortunately it didn't have nearly enough flour in the cake mix and thus slumped a bit but warm, it went very well with a slurp of sea buckthorn syrup, which gave it a nice tartness, plus a handful of our homegrown frozen redcurrants from the plot -- if you take them straight from the freezer, they're little ice berries, very tasty.
