Bring it, winter

Back from our week away, refreshed and recharged, full of city summer impressions and memories of wine- and beer-soaked evenings with good friends, to a house/garden/allotment in serious need of attention. I'd organised us a £25 per cbm all-inclusive firewood delivery and the guy who did it wanted it all sorted in one day. So he and his two minions (son and daughter) turned up at 10am and offloaded the first two of eight  ordered cbm in our driveway. Four delivery runs, several drenching rain showers and countless wheelbarrow and handcart treks to the bottom of our garden later, the deed was done and whatever happens now, at least we'll be warm and we'll have fuel to cook (this is only half-exaggerated: after 10 weeks of chasing and remonstrating, our £6,200+ fantasy gas bill was at least wiped from the account this morning but the obsolete meter is still showing against the account so a ways to go yet.)

Here we're just starting. The sawn conifer logs from last month are in the Holzleg next door. We've cleared this Holzleg for the pinewood. On top: Neuroticat, testing the stability of the stack.

Nearly all 8 cbm.

"Holzleg voll."

Time to turn in for the evening.
