Last month, after a frost, I bought 72 orange, red, purple and white pansies from a garden centre, for £7.50, because the garden centre had to sell them as frost-damaged. Today, I planted the last of them. Completely pansied-out now.
Spent the day potting and repotting. We've had dozens of plants in small and large pots -- roses, geraniums, strawberries, lilies, dahlias. Practically all of them had vine weevils. Incredible. I fed them all to the birds. All the roses are now repotted, including the ancient Cliff Richards that we've inherited from our predecessors. Let's see if we get any joy from them this summer. Most of the dahlias we grabbed from the garden centre last year didn't make it through the winter but some made it and produced nine bulbs in total, also now potted up separately. Three small hanging baskets are now full with pansies and strawberries. Two more long window-boxes filled, also with pansies, both now out front. Our faithful clematis is finally flowering like mad; our street-facing wall is covered in beautiful pinkish-white flowers.
OH has tackled the weed-filled area around the pond. Things are starting to fall into place even though we know we have loads more to do.
