Summer is finally here: the first barbie of the year coincides with Glastonbury

A misshapen single strawberry, comprised of 4 different ones.
A bit of a test run, this: cooked strawberries with mint leaves (that's the brown bit) and icecream. It's okay but this dish does work better with raspberries, it has to be said. We've got strawberries coming out of our ears at the moment.

SOMEONE's distinctly unimpressed that we're having a barbecue in the garden. Note the stern look of disapproval there.

Glastonbury concert on in the background on the house wifi. Tesco roadkill dips. OH's special glutenfree Chinese sweet and sour marinated and grilled king prawns. Plus the obligatory dirty burger.

Neuroticat is putting in a request for food. She's basically happiest when she can sit at table with us. If she could physically use knife and fork, she would.

The chimenea is on and being fed by sackfuls of pinecones donated by next door's Mum. Next door's puppy is being babysat while his parents are out for a meal with friends (the cat's been locked inside for her own protection). OH is playing with the dog and I am bothering the nephew via increasingly absurd What's App texts (he takes it well).
Garden looking particularly magical when the solar lanterns come on. Round about midnight, the neighbours roll back in, steaming, and settle down on our patio for a second session. We stop partying at around 2am and are all feeling a little fragile the next day. That's what I call summer!
