P came round to pick up a tool from OH while I was on the phone to a friend. He surveyed my handiwork and --- pronounced the hearth "perfect" so far. He also sounded very surprised as if he had expected a properly botched job.
I am mega-proud! Forget positive job appraisals -- my builder neighbour thinks I'm a more than adequate BRICKLAYER! Yay! My year's work is done.
