Apparently the beans haven't been growing as well because the weather has been too cold lately. Mine just died during the warm weeks, which have now stopped and been replaced by a series of lame-ish thunderstorms, which are admittedly good for our soil and save me from endless watering.
We've been living really well this week. We've had chicken legs twice in a row, plus homegrown lettuce (unfortunately bolted), sweetcorn (frozen from last year's crop, still very tasty with butter) and today we tried the Lady Christls for the first time with a piece of chili salmon -- very nice. They do taste different from the nuttier Shetland Blacks we had at the weekend.
It's been a job persuading OH to come to the allotment during the week -- there's always the footie on and he does wind down in the evenings whereas I rev up for a few more hours before crashing completely. So I'd gone out to do a bit more digging and weeding and berry-harvesting but today, he did pop along, because he was cooking dinner and wanted to try the new potatoes.
The plot looked washed and clean after this afternoon's downpours. Harvested a bowl full of summer raspberries, 2 lettuces, and a bag of potatoes.
Some up-to-date pictures from our plot:

| The herb, flower and carrot bed: sweet williams, several potted mints, borage, oregano in the background plus our carrots in the sandboxes. The beer crate at the back is seating. |

I've got loads more pictures from the plot but blogspot is struggling a bit with its uploading software and won't transfer the uploads into the blog despite my having reduced the photosize to that of a stamp, so I'll call it a night.
