The broadbeans I sowed on the plot last month have finally come out. Yes, the ones that weren't chewed up by that passing hedgehog that then nonchalantly left its droppings alongside (why does every living creature feel the need to crap on my work?)
Early potatoes pushing through -- good thing. All the strawbs in full flower, and none of them have frostbite -- yay! The flower bed is erupting into seedlings -- thought it would never happen! Must remember this weekend to cover them all.
In the herb bed, we keep chopping away at our coriander, our parsley (curly and flat-leaved) and our mints. Harvested about 10 rhubarb sticks -- my friend later took them all off me.
Cut some new chard for dinner for a Chard-and-Parsley Borek and also took a head of lettuce with me. It was very small and had two slugs in it, but it tasted really lovely. Long live 'King of May'!
Still, a weird day. The brown-glass cover of our hob exploded all over the half tray of borek while we were in the next room eating. It must have been material fatigue but it was a bit freaky.
